THE STORY BEHIND OUR 15TH ANNIVERSARY IDENTITY
A Legacy Reflected in Light.
Fifteen years are made up of more than moments. They are shaped by the people, perspectives and stories that leave a lasting impression.
To celebrate this milestone, we looked to crystal and glass - the traditional symbol of fifteen years - as more than an anniversary reference. It became a visual metaphor for the VFF journey.
Crystal reflects. It refracts. It transforms light.
Like the stories that have passed through VFF over the last fifteen years, a single beam of light entering crystal becomes something greater: shifting direction, revealing colour and creating new perspectives.
The reflective surfaces of the anniversary identity invite us to look back at the filmmakers, stories, partnerships and community that have shaped VFF since 2012. Its transparency represents the many perspectives that have moved through the festival. Its different facets speak to the countless voices and experiences that make storytelling powerful.
And then there is the light.
Light has always been fundamental to cinema, but for VFF it carries another meaning. Our vision is “to illuminate the creative spirit in all of us.” Throughout the anniversary identity, light passes through glass, catches its edges and breaks into unexpected colour — representing what can happen when creativity is given an opportunity to shine.
The result is an identity that exists between reflection and illumination.
We reflect on fifteen years of stories that brought us here while looking toward the filmmakers, ideas and possibilities still ahead.
Fifteen years reflected. The future illuminated.
02 / THE REFLECTIONS
Honouring What Brought Us Here.
Reflections invite us to look back — to recognize the people, defining moments and creative achievements that have become part of our story.
As we celebrate 15 years, we honour the connections we've made, the talent we've celebrated and the community that continues to inspire us.
01 / THE FACETS
Every Story Shapes Us.
Just as every facet of a crystal contributes to its form, every filmmaker, film, partnership and shared experience has helped shape VFF.
Each brings a different perspective. Together, they form a legacy built through the power of storytelling.
03 / THE LIGHT
Illuminating What Comes Next.
Light reveals new dimensions, new perspectives and possibilities yet to be discovered.
It represents the creative spirit that drives VFF forward — our commitment to discovering new voices, championing talent and creating opportunities for the next generation of filmmakers.
Our past, reflected in every facet.
Our future, illuminated by what comes next.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
The Future Is Still Being Written.
For 15 years, the Vaughan International Film Festival has created a space for stories to be shared, talent to be recognized and creativity to thrive.
As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward with the same passion that brought us here — to discover new voices, create meaningful opportunities and continue illuminating the creative spirit in all of us.
Here's to the stories we've shared, the people who have shaped our journey, and everything still to come.
