Participants were zombified at a unique workshop presented by VFF in partnership with SOMA (School of Makeup Art). One of the school's head instructors, Matt DeWilde, demonstrated extensive makeup design techniques, including skin aging, scars, and gashes, to create the modern monster craze—the zombie! Matt's film and television credits included Jacob’s Ladder, Goosebumps, and The Twilight Zone.

Participants were provided with a complimentary makeup kit with the purchase of their ticket and had the opportunity to test their own skills on a model, where they received constructive critiques.
