On June 17 and 18, 2025, the Vaughan International Film Festival (VFF) lit up The Studios at Assembly Park with its annual International Screenings.
Hosted by the always charismatic Lee-Anne Galloway, the two-night showcase celebrated bold, thought-provoking short films from around the world, bringing filmmakers and audiences together for an unforgettable cultural experience.
June 17 featured the screening of eight international shorts, including the Canadian film Sidekicks. The evening was made even more memorable by a lively Q&A with the film’s director John Daniel as well as cast and crew from the film who shared behind-the-scenes stories and insights into their creative process and that some of them had been inspired by being previous attendees as alumni of VFF!
June 18 continued with another strong lineup of nine international shorts and a Q&A session featuring the directors of :
🎬 Goodridge: The Price of Glory (dir: Kevin A Courtney)
🎬 Clementine (dir: Beth Evans)
🎬 Dusty (dir: Jeremy Lindsay Taylor)
🎬 Bracciante (dir: Christopher Beaulieu)
Each conversation offered a window into the diverse themes and journeys that shaped these compelling films. Whether tackling social issues, emotional depth, or imaginative narratives, the filmmakers left audiences inspired and engaged.
To keep the celebration going, both nights concluded with exclusive afterparties at Chop Steakhouse & Bar, where filmmakers, guests, and industry professionals gathered to unwind, network, and toast to a successful evening of storytelling.
VFF is grateful for the support of our International Screenings Sponsor: Ontario Camera, International VIP Sponsors: Aloft Vaughan Mills for Block 1 (June 17) and Forest Group for Block 2 (June 18).

Thank you to everyone who joined us for two incredible nights of global film, connection, and creativity. The International Screenings remain a cornerstone of Festival Week, and this year’s event reminded us once again why short film is one of the most powerful forms of storytelling.
